Non-Turbo 85-300D

I have only been into the MB Diesels for about 8 months, but I did not know there were 85-300d models with no turbo.

Is this common?

Is a 3-liter 5 cyl common? Never heard of that.

Sure is pretty though.

Could be a Euro spec with Federal lighting, or some one swapped in a NA engine.

Yes it is for a euro model. Take a look at the bumpers, notice how they are shorter then your average US model 300D. Also turbos on 300D was a US thing since the US demands for more power, while in germany they just demand better economy and reliability.

So therefore that is a true german 300D, while ours is an "americanized" german 300D, not to say its bad i like the turbo :D

Euro model.
Short bumpers.
Phase 1 air conditioning.

Well, away because I thought the 5-cyl was a 2.5 Liter. My mistake. I'm still learning MBs. I could tell you anything you want to know about VWs though.

It is a nice looking one and it is close to me. But, I couldn't spend the beginning bid of $2000 on it right now.

Thanks for the great info on the model...I like the Euro look.

Is it as slow as the 240 (with automatic) with the non-turbo on take off?

the 2.5 fiver was offered in the newer 124 cars and also the 190s.

a na five cylinder will be good off the line. not at all like a 240 automatic, which no matter how you slice it feels like something serious is amiss when you try to take off!

Anybody close to this car?

If anyone lives nearby and has the time, it would be great to hear about this car.

Wonder what rear end ratio was incorporated in the 85 naturally aspired euro 300d? Hopefully they must have made it a little taller than the 77-81 american versions. On the otherhand they may have left it the same.

t walgamuth 09-28-2006 08:28 PM

i would bet on the 346.
