What do I need to convert a 190D Auto to 5spd
Greetings,
I have two 190D's both 2.2, auto, one is a 1984 and the other a 1985. I would like to experiment with installing a 5 spd. Am I limited to finding a junk 1984 or 1985 190D or can I use other years for a 5 spd donor. Thanks! Also did Mercedes have a all wheel drive option back then? |

Should be doable but you want to locate a complete vehicle so you get everything you need at one time. Better even if it is identical body wise to yours. Not all five speeds fit. Make sure you find refference marks and do what you have to do to match it up when you install the flywheel on your engine. I would even go as far as turning the engine to top dead centre and marking that position very carefully. Then if their are no marks on your engine you can duplicate the installation. In your hunt if you should come across a five speed from an earlier 123 or earlier gas car do not hesitate to drop me a private message. It will not bolt up to yours anyways but can to one of mine. Just tell the vendor the early ones are a dime a dozen and no body really wants them.
