It's in New York with one BIG down side: "It will be sold with a Bill of Sale ONLY and it will be sold as-is, where-is."

They are popular cars in Europe.

By US standards it is about the size of a high top tennis shoe with wheels.

Wonder how it got here? Diplomatic plates?

In N.Y. it's a real megilla to get a title, unless your a dismantiler or have a towing company. Then it's usualy a salvage title. I went down this road with a pristine 85 300D with 20,000 original miles, could have had it for $2,000,
never worked out

I have seen these in Tucson and Dallas as well. All of them with mexican plates. I wonder if they have this model in canada as well.
My problem with such a car where do you go for parts, repairs, etc...
If you are in Tucson AZ maybe taking it to Nogales Sonora, in San Diego to Tijuana, but if you are living somewhere else how in hell do you service such a vehicle?

I'm pretty sure any MB dealer could order the parts for you from germany, it'd just be expensive and slow. Imagine the look on their faces when you brought that into the service area though, the first thing they'd say is "where the heck did you get THAT!?"

Gray market "elk test" car?

Has this been legally imported and ALL DOT/EPA paperwork been done?

It would add $5000-$10000 to have it legal and ready to license here.

The seller is avoiding any and all responsibility for claiming it is "US legal", only claims it is physically in the US. Has it been running around for longer than it should on diplomatic or dealer plates up to now?

Isn't there some kind of time limit that begins to run when it hits our shores that it must be converted to US spec or its subject to seizure or destruction,
a bond was supposed to have been posted?

Maybe a call to a registered importer would be in order before bidding, to clear up what questions would need to be asked first.

I think if you bought it just with a bill of sale you might well have to begin, at your peril, the gray market process then and there.

Given the time that has passed since it was here it might actually be an "illegal alien" car already.

Be careful!!!

It ended at $9,500 with the reserve not met. Now it's been relisted with a $9,000 starting price.

My cousin is planning to move from Canada to California. I wonder if they can bring in a B-class as a personal vehicle.
