Hi
This is an idiot light question for that probably seems like it is comming from an idiot. Juts bought '83 300SD body 126 and the idiot light with a symbol of a circle with dashed lines around each side flickers on and off. It looks something like.... (O)

Is this the light for the alternator or the brakes?

It didn't come with an owners manual, so I am kinda guessing at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

It's part of the brake warning system.One of you pads is probibly worn.

If its an orange color, its the brake wear sensor. front pads need replacement as well as new sensors. Also verify that the front rotors are not worn beyond minimum thickness. Usually after 2 to 3 sets of pads are replaced, the rotors are worn down too thin. The rear pads do not have sensors.
