How many RPMs do you get at 75mph?

Just wondering, taking a survey.
My 1984 300 SD TD gets to 3500rpms at 75 mph. It has little hesitation to get to 75 mph after I changed the fuel filter. There is no shaking, no tremors at this speed. Pedal is 2/3 way down. I think that I got a good deal on this one, good engine!
Is 3500 rpms considered high or normal?
What do you guys get at 75 mph? Which model/year do you have?
Frankie

On my '85 300TD (wagon) I get the same RPM or slightly less at the same speed. Its very smooth over all.

OK, this is reassuring. So does this mean that the RPMs we are getting at 70-75 mph is normal or high? OR is it a preference thing that owners get their mechanics to adjust to their liking?
I sense that my rpms is within normal.

Its completely normal and can't be "adjusted" its a simple question of what ratios the gears are on your car. Yours sounds normal, its exactly what mine does. Except I go 80 most of the time, so close to 3800rpm

It's normal, these were built to cruise 55mph per the fun DOT regulations (just like why many only have an 85mph speedo LOL). I get about 2400rpm @ 55mph, right on the torque peak...

Drop in a 2.47:1 diff and you'll decrease RPM and fuel consumption. 2.88:1 is best for a hilly area, if you live in the flatlands like many of us do in Texas... a 2.47:1 is great.
