POR15 sloppiness ... need cleanup help
Yesterday I spent a few careful hours cleaning up the rust situation growing on my right taillamp ... took out the assembly, did the whole POR15 routine. Well, when I left it to dry, I didn't want an animals climbing into the taillamp hole (my cats would have loved it), so I gently rested a towel over it ... idiot that I am, I managed to bump the towel, dragging it up the car and smearing the undried POR15 onto the nice clean area above the light. It's tiny little streaks, but very noticeable to me. What's the best way to get these off? Compound? I could finesse it w/ wet sanding, but i'm worried that area of the paint will look funny. The area below it, obviously is not going to look great (I'm going to paint over it in white, but it will still be lumpy), but I'd hate to have that top part remain all scuffed up with silver streaks. There's a small bit on the trunk, too. I hate that, because I was so careful throughout the process.
 Any ideas? Here's a bad pic ... again, the part just above the light assembly is supposed to look gross, it was all rust and I had to cover it ... but the little scuffs above it, I want to get off.

That's a good question, cause that stuff sticks to anything, but grease. Have you contacted the POR manufacturer, or maybe a competent body shop?
Compound my work, but you run the risk of burning your paint (grinding down to primer) with it. Does your model have clear coat? KIT makes a good clearcoat cleaner that may take off the stuff, if it has not fully cured yet. I never had the problem you have, since I have not encountered rust in a while.

I'm afraid its bad news. Once the POR-15 dries it takes sand paper or a grinder. Call the POR-15 company they should help. I envision you buying a lighted magnifying glass and some very small abrasive wheels or dental picks/files. I used POR-15 all over my sons 65 Mustang, 6 years ago, and it's still rock solid.

My dad went nuts on the underbody of his car with POR a couple months ago, not realizing its....abilities to stick to things....needless to say, he had completely black hands/arms/part of his face for several days, despite grueling washing/goop/cleaners/brake cleaner/gasoline, he tried everything, got maybe 20% of it off (probably from skin loss from abrasion
 ) He now wears huge gloves and goggles when using it.

Using the tools above will damage some of the car paint, but you can buy touchup for that. POR-15 is a wonderful product. but if does stick, very very well.
Consider using touchup paint to cover it. Normally you have to use a binding paint to paint over por-15 but its worth a try. pawoSD Learned about por-15 drying to the skin, doing my sons car. Not as bad as your father but a few areas of the skin were black for a while. The por-15 takes about 7 days to completely wear off the skin. gloves, duct taping your long sleeves to your gloves. hair cover, the kind they use spray painting. Long pants. socks and boots. That is the required por-15 uniform. And you will still get it somewhere. Dave

I'd sand the area smooth and respray it. That stuff is a bloody nightmare to remove, I had some on my arm and it took 2 days of scrubbing with a household scouring pad to get it off.

I would recommend leaving it alone
The picture you posted does not show very well or very much. But I lnow that POR is very snsitive to UV light. It, UV will break it down in short order, and I wouldn't doubt that after being exposed to sunlight for a couple of months you will be able to rub it off with your finger. Don't mke it worse by grinding or extreme rubbing or polishing. Believe me, sunlight will do the job.

Try kitchen clenser. Put some on a wet rag and rub. This also takes off surface rust.
