123 Turbo Diesel, little blow by
I have a Mercedes 300D, only 88k miles, real beaut. I noticed the other day when I removed the oil cap, there was a little blow by coming from the cap. Is this a problem that can be corrected? Im new to the 123 diesel family, can this be something I should be worried about?
Thanks- Matt |

They all have some blow-by, how much are you getting? A few specs on the valve cover is no big deal, if it hits you in the face that's different. The "standard" test is to loosen the oil cap and see how much it "dances" around, a little bouncing around is normal.

They all have a little blow-by. I have had clients with 300,000mi on their 5cyl turbos and the blow-by was about the same as when they had 25,000mi.
When they are BAD, the blow-by will push the oil cap off the valve cover when loosened. DON'T WORRY...... Just drive it and enjoy it!!!
