?? - 240D Manual Sunroof Removal - Headliner

I've read the CD_Service Manual, I've searched and searched.

Yes, I can unclip the headliner. . .BUT.. . the latch handle is completely in the way of removing it.

Can I take out the sunroof without removing the headliner? If I can do this, will it be obvious how to remove the latch handle once it's off?

Thanks all.

Got it. Had to pull the pin that hold the handle on.

Can a power sunroof be converted to manual without replacing the entire thing?

That is an interesting question, and one I'll be looking at the answer of. I will say that removing the headliner puts fear into my heart.......

I'd prefer to remove the dash to replace 1 vacuum pod before I think about removing the headliner...

The sunroof headliner is easy. I wouldn’t want to touch the rest of the headliner!

I think I read on here somewhere that you can not easily swap the two types of sunroofs. The electric roof on one of my cars needs repairs, the manual roof in the other works great. Love than manual roof!

I think the tracks on either side of the hole (that hold the fuzzy stuff) are different. The whole manual mechanism is different. Can be done, but it is harder than it looks.
