Is there a difference between Mobil Delvac 1 5W40 and Mobil 1 5W30? They both have C ratings.

At 300K miles I changed the valve cover gasket and the lower oil pan gasket and switched to Rotella Synthetic. iM at 308 now and have had no problems and she doesnt leak a drop. I also think it sounds alot better when I start her up on cold mornings.

Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 40-10. Otherwise known as Delvac synthetic. Available at least last week at Wally World for $3.38/ qt. I went in and emptied the shelf twice. Heading back again tonight, hope they have restocked.

or if Delvac 1 isn't available, RedLine 15w-40 Diesel Oil. Delvac is about $3/quart cheaper though.

Rotella Synthetic at wal-mart in the gallon size. About $12.88 if I remember correctly.

I'm presently using Shell Rotella-T Synthetic 5W-40. This is my first oil change on synthetic.

Why? It's convenient- comes in 1 gal jugs, so two jugs will do an oil change, and is fairly cheap at Wal-Mart.

Delvac-1 in my '87 300TD and '87 300D. No idea what they put in my '04 CLK 500 Cabrio. DOes anyone know what they use at the factory?
