Euro city lights? LED replacement?

What kind of bulb are the city lights? Anyone know of the LED equivalent.

I have the "feds" on my 123. Want some Euro's though. Anyway, the Haynes manual has electrical specs for the UK in the back. Since I am at work, I can't comfirm, but it may also list the bulb types.

Your contact for the Euros might have that info also.

They are typical small base bulbs. I found them at the local parts store. I will say, that I wish they were a bit brighter. I think they are 12W. I also got the Euro side marker plugs and use single element bulbs for the turn signals only, and the amber lights do not come on with the parking lights, just the city lights in the headlight.

I also picked up a Euro light switch so I can run the fogs with just the running lights, not the headlights which is standard on the US models.

I have a switch from a Euro, and there is no difference in the two switches. The difference is in the wiring, so any switch can be wired to take the power straight to the fog contact instead of through the main light contact set.

Brighter Lights

I did quite a bit of research on the web a couple of years ago, trying to find an LED that would work. The problem with LEDs is that they have such a narrow “brightness zone” directly in front of them, and are very dim off to the sides. Kind of a pencil beam. Not sure how the optics of the headlight lens would distort them. The other thing I worried about was the heat from the main headlight bulb, directly below. When I cleaned my reflectors, it was obvious how hot the bulbs got. I wasn’t sure if the plastics in the LED assembly would hold up.

As a work-around, I ordered some slightly brighter blue-vision type bulbs from a place in the UK. They worked great (whiter, without that “yellowy” look) for about 9 months, then burned out. I’m back to the stock bulbs now.

Dennis Kirk sells snomobile stuff. Including LED replacements http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=&store=Main&catId=&productId=p22555&leafCatId=&mmyId= . Autometer also sells led 194 bulbs all of these are expensive and i doubt they are close to legal here is a site that sells 194 in led, couldn't find them on autometer's site http://autolumination.com/194.htm . But maybe the previous owner replaced them, just like how he played golf and his tees got stuck in some vacuum lines under the hood
