Question Head light Switch

I have a question for 240D owners. I know that when you pull out on the head light switch it turns on your fog lights but the other day I was fooling around with the switch and noticed that it will pull out two times. The first time you pull out on the switch the fog lights come on.What it suppost to do on the second pull out.

The manual calls it an accessory light unit or something to that effect. I think it may have turned on the rear fog lights on Euro cars with that option.

That second tug, in Europe, will turn on fog tail lights too. See the Brake Light Mod thread for what you can do with that extra spot in your taillight harnesses.

Here's a question.

My 84 Euro 300D has the rear fog light installed (Heh, I knew about the second pull thing a while ago). The switch itself even lights up when it's pulled! My question? There's only one rear foglight. Is there supposed to be two, or was it designed with a driver-side only rear foglight?

There is room for an extra bulb in both lights so you can add two, but I seem to recall that they usually only use one. Maybe if someone has a Euro owners manual they could verify this.

Only one rear fog light is used. Otherwise it would look like your brake lights are on all the time. This way it looks like one of your brake lights is burned out.

I think they are used to seeing one rear fog light in Europe. Volvo and BMW have the same deal where only one light in the rear lights up. The Euro W123 wagons have one fog light and one backup light unlike ours that have no fog and two backup lights.
