From what I have been told, all the Japanese car makers make a diesel for use on the European Continent. In fact, gasoline powered cars are actually in the minority there... I, at one time had a diesel powered Toyota Maxima. That was back in the mid 1980's. Great car, but the body didn't hold up well against the rust belt salt....

Just about every car in the world is available in a diesel...just not here in the US.

I have a gasser Dodge Grand Caravan. Dodge manufactures Grand Caravans with a turbo charged 4 cylinder diesel that make something like 248HP. It is made in the US and shipped overseas. You cannot buy it here.

i love the acura TSX look of europes honda accord. They made the ugly one we have now because the US demands a bigger car....to suit our obesity problem.

Looking at that car's pics reminded me of a question I've had for awhile. On a right hand drive car, what is the gear pattern of the standard shift. First gear closest to driver and just backwards of left drive?

Same shift pattern as left hand drive, at least on the ones I have driven, including my 307d in the UK.

Wow....its just not fair that we can't have cars like that here, I'd definatley consider one of those (to have in addition to all my MB's ) 50mpg...wow.

I love the performance of the diesel Accord as well, its no slouch compared to its gasser version and is pretty refined as well.

RHD gear pattern is same as with LHD. Pedals are in the same places too - no mirror image. Takes a little getting used to - my right arm feels crowded and I keep wanting to shift 1st like I do when I shift with my right hand - that's in toward my leg and forward. I lugged the engine a couple times when I wasn't thinking. I got used to it pretty quickly though, and the first thing I did driving home from the airport when I got back was to shift into 5th while in the parking lot...

My wife is salivating at the thought of a Honda Accord diesel. She's trying to get on a waiting list for the 08 model!
