Good point. I (blush) admit to rarely checking the spare's pressure but since I inflate it to 40 or 50 psi anyway, I figure it has a long way to leak down. [When putting the spare on the car, I bleed it down to 32 before driving.]

I'm eliminating my Spare tire well to make way for the crowning touch on my custom exhaust...

I can mount it underneath if I really wanted...

Carry an electric (DC) air pump

I carry an electric (DC) air pump. If it is low when it comes out of the trunk I can fill it back up. Plus, I check it every 6 months ago.

Here's what you need for those winter trips south to buy diesel parts in Saskatoon ...

[The picture shows my grandfather (in the 1930s) delivering the mail in his modified truck. The "snowmobile" parts (they actually used that word) came in a kit. Not a diesel, unfortunately.]

Merc sells a gas can to fit this space.

Merc has a rollerblind you can pull out to cover the luggage area.

Two solutions:
1. Empty the crap out of your trunk!
2. MB must have thought it was a good idea to, its mounted upside down in my W126's. You even get a plastic tub that fits in the center, to hold the tool kit.

i think the upside down box was an option or an accesory at the time. like the 7liters jerrican that fit in the well well for the W123 wagons.
