Find a used door and get ready for the trial and error and error and error and error......... to get it to close properly. Mine still isn't quite right.
I see doors on ebay, and even with shipping you should be under $200 bucks. Seems like **************.com has them from time to time also......
We need pics to better offer our expert recommendations.....

yes. that is correct. what gives? how come i cant see tha damage on the inside?

anywho here are some pics of my car... before the accident. its that wierd light brown color

its a 1983 240d Euro. the door im looking for, obviously would be that color. Also it needs to have the power vaccum lock, and have a manual crank down window, not electric.

thanks guys

Good looking car. I bet it will be hard to find a matching door, that looks like a fairly rare color. Try a wanted add on craigslist to find a door, then have it painted. I found one for $60 on craigslist before.

I've had a similar situation. I had a 1983 240D three years ago, and only had it 3 days when an idiot from a local tire company made an illegal u-turn in front of me and I hit him (undoubtedly his fault, and he received a ticket for illegal U-turn and failure to maintain safe outlook). I got my quotes together to repair (well over $2,000 as it screwed up the hood, the grille, and bent the front bumper up a little). The insurance company dragged their feet real bad - I had a lawyer who is the brother of a good friend of mine make a nasty little call. They called and asked me what I thought was fair - I told them to pay me the $1,500 I had just paid for the car and let me keep the car. Check arrived to my house within 2 days! I bought a hood already the right color for $200 and a headlight door for $75 on eBay and drove it for a year.

If the accident had been my fault and I was dealing with my insurance company, they would have probably not accepted the deal. You have the upper hand when you are dealing with somebody else's company when they are at fault, and will write you a check for $2K in a heartbeat to be done with the situation. I could have asked for more and probably gotten it, but I didn't want them to total the car and take it.

you apparently got yourself a former taxi color 623-light ivory.
But that could be verified with the VIN#

could also be "wheat yellow" code 681.

Is the dent the kind that you could pull out with a suction cup? A good suction cup will pull out a lot of dents and then you just have to polish the area.
bin there done that

Jimmy,
I really got off on the "our expert opinions line". You know the way this is going he may have an easily repairable door dent. Or perhaps just a scratch. Can hardly wait to see the pictures. I hope he makes sure the light is right when he photographs so we can identify the dent. Would not want to confuse it with a stone chip for example. There must be a moral here or something. Like make sure the guy that crashes into you has farmers insurance. Or perhaps the adjuster was his brother? It just is so unlike most of the friendly adjusters I have met before as to be almost unbelievable. I have to wonder if I can drive there and have the same young lady crash into my car. Needless to say we can split the damage money. But with my luck I would probably find out they cancelled her insurance before the accident occured. Actually when examining his posted pictures that car looks in good shape and adjuster may have allowed for 1/2 car repaint done well for example. I think the cars apparent good superficial condition may have had something to do with the amount given.

I belive that the doors are the same for manual and electric doors, you just have to swap internals.

then Wheat Yellow or pastel beige... only the VIN can tell!

I have seen many original color that don't really look anymore what they use to. This color may be one of those that dependng on sun exposure can tilt into one of its variant.

I know for sure that Labrador and China blue are those that may swing...

VIN please!!!

From what I see it should go pretty easy. The damaged fender lip is a piece of cake for a body man to repair/reshape. The cheapest and easiest option is to get a used door. The colour is easy to match with a spectrometer or whatever the local paint shops call them. This colour is in the colour range that a perfect match is possible. It will even be pre faded. Fuel door makes a good sample to read. Rather than removing that just take the damagrd door in or cut a sample from it. The door will be lighter if you remove the internal parts and glass. Paint the replacement door off the car. Paint the repaired fender lip. Install your door. If there is any doubt in your mind install the door before painting it to check frame fit etc. That adjuster was very liberal in my opinion unless there is something not visable in the pictures. Best of luck.

im almost thinking just have the 3 small dents pulled out on the top of the door and just leave it at that. the damage really isnt that bad. what would u guys do in this case? i mean its either get another door and have the paint slightly off, or just get the top of the door fixed, get the paint touched up and call it a day?
