aklim, I think that is somewhat subjective. IMO, the only battery that I am confident in saying has an edge over the others is Interstate. They produce fine products.

FWIW, the Douglas and DEKA batteries I've purchased from Batteries Plus over the past few years have provided, and continue to provide, flawless service. And delivered at a very fair price.

I may go Interstate and spend the few extra bux.

Reason I asked is because my AC Delco units were hit or miss, at least with me. Brand new car in 91. 3 months later, battery died. GM changed it for free. 3 months later, died again. They tested the charging system but found nothing wrong. Next one lasted 8 years. A year later, I changed the alternator because I wanted a bigger one. My MB unit is the OEM unit and has been there since 99 or whenever the car was made. 8 yr old batter in a diesel doesn't owe me money but if I had to change it, I want to know if there is something better than OEM.

I put an Optima in mine a year ago and am very happy with. I needed the reversed terminal edition to make the cables fit a little better.

I am considering installing a yellow optima in my E300, do you have any fitment issues i.e. its too tall etc. Any problems with the side terminals up top?

I used the red top with the reversed terminals, 34R. That's the typical recommendation for a normal car. Fits fine. The regular red top would put the terminals a little too close to the seat metal for my comfort.
