Question Parts?

I have the dreaded 1995 E300D with the 606 engine. I think I need a injection pump. anybody know were to get a rebuilt one for a good price? and how hard is it to replace. this engine sucks to get parts for and it is making me broke and to lose my mind replaceing everything.

Try Phil. I never had an issue with getting parts for any MB.

The 95 E300 is a wonderful car with a wonderful engine. Get it in running condition and there are a lot of people who will pay dearly to take it off your hands.

what brings me to that conclusion is that I went to repalce the glow plugs and one broke off. I tried to drill it out and damaged the head. so it was cheaper to get a engine out of a wreck than buy a new head. 20,000 miles later the glow plug burns out and during removal it breaks off again in the head. this time the head came off and it got machined out. its very hard to get any parts for the 606 engine, and the ones available are expensive. I have a two tank heated veggie system in it. its been working great but now it is starting to hesitate and studder on diesel. I ve replaced all the filters and my mechanic thinks the injection pump is going bad from the veggie oil. I think he does not approve of veggie oil. The pump is not leaking and once on the highway its fine. a injector pump is expensive and after the last repairs I am stuck with a expensive lawn ornament. I have a few more things to try to get it to run right and Iam going to take it somewere else.

has anyone experienced this with a injection pump? I thought it would be leaking if it goes bad.

You have an unknown junk yard engine running on veg oil and all of a sudden the 606 is a bad motor? Yeah.

Afaik MB only specs diesel fuel for that motor, so if the IP fails on WVO that isn't MB's fualt.

The glow plugs are an issue, that is certian.

I think the specs call for diesel in all the motors, thanks you guys have been real helpful in finding a injection pump.

Back in my IMSA auto racing days.... There was a place on Long Island that we sent our Bosch MFI pumps to get rebuilt and calibrated. (we sent them there from Indy)

As I recall it was a mom and pop type place.

I'd think, that if you think you have a bad pump, then why not pull it off the car, and have a Bosch techincal service place test it.

Pardon me if I'm way off base. I'm a relative newbie to MB diesels. (I do have ASE credentials, and a long automotive background, just not much D2 experience)

If you really want to buy an injection pump, just call phil (on this site) and he will find you a remanufactured one. They are not listed on the parts page, but he got one for my 617. It will not be cheap, so you may want to verify that the pump is really your problem first.
