Lack of Floor Heat

Got a 1984 300SD with 188,000 miles. Car has been running like a champ lately. Seems to be getting better and better with time. My problem albeit small is I get no heat out of the floor ducts. Got great heat out of the vents and the defroster just nothing out the floor. Temperature control and fan are working fine, no problems there. Its getting cold here in the northeast and I need the heat out the floor onto my old aching feet. Any ideas on where I should start looking?

Also whats involved in replacing the turbo drain seal? Read somewhere hear a while back that its a real pain!! Since I cleaned the motor its been leaking quite a bit lately, more since I switchted to Rotella synthetic.

Recently replaced my oil cooler hoses, went reasonably well, only took about 3 hours in all. Seems I had more trouble removing the motor mount then the hoses. Damm allen bolts!!! Once I figured out how it came apart it was fairly straight forward.

Love the car, will eventually go over the whole car and repaint it hopefully this winter. My next project before any body work is redoing all the springs and bushings in the front and rear suspension.

Probably a vacuum pod.......

More than likely it is a torn diaphragm in a vacuum pod actuator. Fortunately, it is one that is fairly easy to access. It's located directly behind the radio and ACC controller (pushbuttons). There are two there and it is the lower one of the two. Replacement diaphragms and a little tool to take the pods apart is available at www.autoluxmbz.com

(Most of the pods are fairly accessible except for one.....the center vent, which is used mostly for a/c operation.)

Isn't the floor vent pod just to the right of the accelerator? I posted instructions on how to replace it a few years ago.

I think the one to the right of the accelerator pedal is the divertor flap, which is used mostly for a/c. I believe that is correct since I have it written down in two different places.

Ah, here is the actual page from mb.braingears. The diverter flap vacuum element is located "on LH side of plenum". The footwell flaps vacuum element is "on plenum, behind pushbutton control assembly".

Fixing the pod to the right of the accelerator gave me floor heat which I did not have before. oooops--I thought we were talking about a D, not an SD. My mistake.
