Ahh so since they take a vow of poverty they only get to ride in a 240D limo, I see.

So the trick is to become a preist in a religion that lets you get driven around in a better limo!

I believe I saw that car at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Island car show 5 or 6 years ago in Newport Beach, Calif. The owner said it was shown there for 8 years in a row.

As the auction mentioned, the first ones were delivered to Israel, then to Palestine. Then elsewhere in the middle east. They were the 240D "lang" (long) sedans. Watch the traffic in the current news clips about Palestine, before long you'll notice one glide by.

Every once in awhile the euro sales brochure for them, sometimes in English, comes up for sale on ebay. Which leads me to believe Mercedes made them, not a Euro coach builder like Carat Duchalet or Binz or the Styling Garage.

it's not a 240d though is it? thought the 240 had the 616, i.e. 4 cylinders and not 5 as advertised. Not that an extra cylinder would help the speed on that beast though.

Did they not sell 240D 3.0 cars in other markets?

At first I thought it was AMG blackout but the logo on the front hood is painted over .

They did sell 3.0 but that is clearly short enough to be 2.4
