yep. thats me. I hate to sell it but i bought a diesel suburban. i did wash it then it rained and then i spent my time adding a pasenger side mirror and fixing other things instead of washing it. I swear i bought the black magic for the tires and everything. If it stops raining ill wash it and put some updated pics on my blog before auction ends. I'll wash the inside too. Someone will probably get a good deal as the market is pretty cold now. Winter holidays are probably the worst time to sell a car.

At least the AC works, which is surprising for such an old Benz.

Dang...I should have sold my 240D with the veg conversion installed rather than breaking them up.

One of the most honest e-bay descriptions I have seen.

Far less rust than the few that turn up here from points north and Canada.
Those cars have nothing solid from the door handles down !

Worst one I saw was a 1982 Rabbit diesel from Minnesota ..... you could see through the car at waist level....and I don't mean through the windows.

It was towed in because the passenger side engine mount had torn out and only the drive shaft stopped it from hitting the ground.
Plywood and chicken wire bondo for the floors.

That Mercedes has very little rust for as old as it is....well done that man, for showing all.

.

All ebayers should do that well of a job with their listing, and heck, it's already over 2K.

honest indeed, but looks like the poster child for why a hood pad is a good idea.

Yes, great job on the post, I recently purchased a 240 off ebay and the description was to put it nicely, less than complete. Still happy with the car, but I was stupid to buy it with so little description. I think I probably saved a little money, though, not many are willing to pay much for something they know so little about

Yeah I suppose the underside of the hood looks bad but the paint on top looks great, maybe that whole thing about the hoodpad keeping the paint of the hood from fading is an old wive's tale.

Thanks all. I hope i get my reserve of 3750. i dont really feel like re listing. no time. however , if i do relist it , ill clean it up more. It would be interesting to see how much of a difference that could make in an auction. The car is definitely not anywhere near rusted out. It will last 50 more years down south at least. Im no expert on rust though. It is interesting how rust ended up in the 4 corners like that. Also, a good lesson -- when washing, open the doors and wash the underside of them. I did teh Diesel giant AC makeover on it. That's why it works. I'm going to replace idler arm bushings and try to find that oil leak this weekend. searching idler arm how too. hope no special tools needed.

got the hitch on hitchfinder.com. Try "buying and installing a trailer hitch" search. They are expensive -- 175.00 after shipping. Easy to install though. If you have a local pull a part, check there. I got a Draw Tite 3500 lb hitch off a volvo i will have to weld some plates to mount behind bumper of volvo for 25.00.
cheers,
