Simple question: Where to buy good, pop-tested, balanced, rebuilt injectors for 350SD

Simple enough: Where is a good source to buy good, pop-tested, balanced, rebuilt injectors for a 350SD? I would like to replace mine sometime soon, so I would like to know where I can get a set that I KNOW will be set up right and will work exactly as they should. How much should I expect to pay for a set of 6?

Thanks!:)

Do a search for member Tomj, or Colorado Biodiesel.

WHY not right here at Mercedesshop..they sell OE Bosch remans?

That sounds fine - as long as they're really good...

I'd be perfectly happy to buy them here - are they tested, balanced, etc. so I can be sure that they will be completely solid and work great? If so, I'll place an order very soon. Besides, I'd rather support Mercedesshop.com than some other source since I've learned so much and been helped so much by all the great folks here!

Will anyone else second that idea?:D

AFAIK, Bosch does not remanufacture any injectors. "Bosch remans" are "remanufactured" by a third party completely unrelated to Bosch.

I don't believe that there is any OE reman injector available from the dealer.

Why do you want to replace them? Have you had the old injectors tested? Diesel Giant is selling those Italian nozzles, maybe he also rebuilds and balances injectors.

Well, I'm not completely positive that I need to replace my injectors - and I would be happy to have mine tested if I could. However, my experience with the 2 major diesel shops here in Las Vegas has been far less than positive. I actually left the car with one shop for 2 full days when I first got it - they told me they pulled ONE injector and tested it and it was perfect, so they didn't bother to pull the other 5 since they thought they would probably be the same - even though they kept the car for two full days. Their diagnosis of my rough idle was a leaking injection pump - and repair would be in the neighborhood of $2000. My interperetation of that was, "We have no desire whatsoever to work on your car." The other diesel shop here in Las Vegas told me, "Yeah, we don't like to work on those Mercedes diesels - they're pretty much just a nuisance."

So, I'm left to fend for myself. I DO have a mechanic who could remove my old injectors and install new ones if I get them, I just don't have anyone who can balance, pop-test, etc. to be sure they're set up properly. That's why I'm looking to buy a set that are already set up so I can just drop them into my car - then maybe I'll sell the old ones on eBay or something.

I have read good things about the Bosio nozzles and I would be happy to have a set, but like I said, I don't have anyone who could do the work of putting them together for me. If DieselGiant sells Bosch injectors with Bosio nozzles installed, tested, etc. then I would be happy to buy a set.

Send em to me' ill do em. I have a pop tester and there are several good diesel shops if the balancing is out of my league. I'm still trying to find injector rebuilding in the FSM. I cant find it. . I have a set from my old engine i am about to rebuild for experimentation. But i would really make sure you need them first.

One simple test to do is a "drop test". You are testing if disabling an injector makes the idle speed drop. If it does, you know that injector is contributing to the engine running. If it does not , that injector is not doing squat. You can do it yourself. Take a nice 17 mm open end wrench and at idle, crack one injector line at a time at the injectors and listen for idle speed to drop. The drop should be pretty even on all injectors. good luck.

It appears that you live in 'Vegas.....as it is a large city, there should be several Fuel Injection Testing and Calibration Shops....most are Bosch certified....just telephone or go to one of them and chat with the counter person....he can explain what they do, and how much a set of injectors will cost....there will be a core charge.

If you cannot find a Fuel Injection Shop in the phone book.....ask any Farm Tractor Dealership, Truck Service (Peterbuilt, Kenworth, et al) Shop....they will be sending their stuff out for service....oh, I forgot, Dodge Cummins Diesels use Bosch "P" type injection pumps.....so your local Dodge Truck dealership would know where one is located as well....

For what it's worth -- yesterday i called a few diesel (truck) parts/repair outlets looking for Diesel Purge. None of them had it, but one very helpful gentleman took a good bit of time on the phone to talk shop. He said if I ever needed, I could bring in my injectors. They'd pop test 'em and then rebuild and balance as needed. He told me they're Bosch certified (among a littany of other certifications and qualifications) and do Merecedes automotive injectors all the time.

Cool find here in my little burg. Wouldn't suprise me to find a resource such as this in Las Vegas.
