suspension questions

I am geting ready to go over my suspension and steering. I noticed a noise coming from my front wheel. It sounds like the tone of a ringing crystal wine glass. It is only audible at around 3-5 mph. It is not affected by braking. it dosnt change when the brakes are applied. I'm Pretty sure its the wheel bearings.
also I'm getting a ball joint done by a local indy. He told me it is best to replace both sides at once. I think only one needs replacing. the other looks fine. Does anyone have an educated opinion on this matter. He will do what I want.I trust his judgement. I mean if i ask him to replace just one he will do just that. he is a very honest mechanic.

it wont hurt to do only one, but generally they will want to also do an alignment after replacing one so that is about $75 or so so if you do one now and the other next year you will spend that twice.

so i guess i would check the boots on it and at least renew the boots on the other side and lube it. if the ball joint is tight you prob will be fine for another 5 years or so.

by that time you may not be driving it anymore.

The brake shields rubbing against the wheel can make that noise. Sometimes the shields get bent from taking the wheels on or off. Easy fix, no $$.
