79 300SD Inj Pump into 85 300TD?

I think I've got a bad IP on my '85 300TD, and I've got a 79 300SD (also turbo) that could donate its IP if it will work. Are they interchangeable?

Thanks,
Lars

85 Ip

From what Ive been reading there not. I thought about putting the engine from my 84 parts car into my 85 but there is alot of different stuff on the two and the IP is definately different on the 85's. I suppose anything is possible but how much hassle is it worth.

79 / 85 IP Swap

Thanks.

I've got a flat spot thru the entire middle of the throttle range, and I think I've narrowed the source to the IP. Just looking for options to test my theory without breaking the bank.

I think the only difference between the '85 and the '84 is that the '85 has an electronic rack position sensor for the extra electric EGR crap on that year. I've got the engine from my '85 in my garage right now and that looks to be the only difference. I've also heard rumors that the '85 comes set slightly more lean from the factory. Just in case, I'm going to bump up my full load adjustment a little while I've got the engine apart.
