Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel

MB recently notified dealers about issues concerning Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel. It seems that the new fuel can speed up the shrinkage of O-rings on older, higher mileage cars. This will cause external leaks, as well as allowing air to be sucked into fuel lines. I had a few OM606 equipped 124's and 210's come to my shop over the summer complaining of fuel leaks, but in the last few weeks I've had several cars towed in, and many more that drove in complaining of fuel odors, hard starting, rough running when cold, etc.... It's almost a daily occurrence. Other than the obvious leaks, it looks like the O-ring on the fuel pre-filter allows air to enter. If the lines are still clear enough, you can actually see the bubbles in the line. I don't get many older diesels (617, 601, etc...) here at the dealership, so I'm not sure if they're having any problems.

The Chevron report doesn't mention using a small (or large for that matter) quantity of biodiesel, which I understand does make up for the lack of aromatics.
