Guilty as charged...I'll let you know what I think...anything has to be better than the near-useless WIS.

I second that! Anyone using Autozone's AllDataDIY site? I've been using it for the past few months and am not very impressed. Can anyone recommend a better source for an online shop manual for the W210?

I have alldatadiy subecriptions for the SD and a couple of non-MBs. Navigation is unintuitive if you're used to the MB shop manuals or CD scans. Wiring diagrams are cut into screen size chunks making it really difficult to follow lines and words that cross pages. Images are generally much better than on MB CDs (you'd think MB could tear the sheets of a book for flat scans ). For things like pulling interior door panels, I find alldatadiy better than the MB CD. Note that I'm comparing the CD for a W126 vs alldatadiy for a W140. Could be the MB DVD for the W140 has the procedure spelled out in more detail.

Len, I won't get the book until I have a W210 I think BenzMac's is for sale (again) in the cars forum.

Marty......Great! I will be anxious to hear if its a full content manual...ie. mechanical, electrical and body.
Is this a paper publication or on CD?

Cheers

It says it does not cover the body, I suspect it's mostly engine/drivetrain related...still that's better than nothing. One good time saving tip can pay for that manual.

Once you find the area in question it is OK, but to try and find a particular area takes too long IMHO, if it is not easier to use than a book then why have it? The old paper manuals were much easier to use, and also had steps written more clearly. Like they were written in English not translated loosely from German as the WIS seems to be.

Just so you know, there is a Maintenance Manual available from Mercedes. It is basically for the A and B service items, but is helpful to have the correct procedure and specs available in paper form. It is Maintenance Manual Volume 4 Starting Model Year 1198, publication #S-2684-V04. I'm guessing that V03 would cover the earlier cars? It covers all models.

StarTek DVD

Is the StarTek Repair DVD any good? I just bought it this morning for $150 plus shipping.

I have the Mecedes CD for E300 TD, it is terrible and not worth the $150 they charge. I have a fairly good German publication but it is in German. My wife reads German but has trouble translating technical terms to me which usually happens when I sitting there with greasy hands.

I have WIS and it works great. It contains pretty much most any repair I need to perform

You tell me. I assume that it's more complete than WIS, which lacks a lot of information on the 210 (and presumably many other models).

I'm considering it, so let me know what you think.

I've gotten it but haven't had a chance to critically review it...so far I can see it references things like vacuum shutoff and mechanical governor on the IP and I know the W210 does not have these so I am suspicious of how the details are handled or if there is just mindless cut and paste from prior manuals.

On the positive side, it is small and does cover most major areas of interest on the car...like I said, one good tip or hint and it will pay for itself.
