240D slow & steady...

tappet (or whatever) gap for a 240D

does anybody know the tappet gap for a 1981 240D? i need to know because as of now it sounds like there's a tin can rattling around in there. thanks dudes for any help you can offer

Open your hood, the black emission sticker had valve lash.

.10 intake, .35 exhaust I think.

Make sure to let it sit over night before doing the adjustments. They're different if the water temp is above a certain number. Those are the cold numbers, the ones you want.

For 240D's it's .10 and .30. That's slightly different than the 300D. Manual says to set it .06 more for extremely cold temps.

The above measurements are in Milimeter.

.004 intake and .012 ehxaust in thousandths
