very stupid question, but....

Ok, on my 92 300D, the switch for the headlights turns to the right to turn on the park lights, and the headlights, but what does it do when ya turn it to the left??? I have tried to see what comes on, but I actually dont see anything coming on when i turn to the left.

The key has to be off. It's parking lights. One is left side and one is right side. They help notify drivers on narrow streets that you are on part of the road.

Dude, you are good. I did notice one time that I had a left side light on, but never could get it to come on again. guess it was the key. Thanks so much.

I'd bet 99% of the people on the road do not know that system exists since no american cars (That I know of) have this feature. In fact, I think it would be dangerous to use them in the USA because of this.

There have been several times that I have turned the knob all the way to the left (which is what I was used to) and accidentally turned on the one side lamps. It's funny, becuase there has been a couple of times that I have seen other MB's sitting in parking lots with one side of the parking lights on. Luckily the batteries are so large, that it would take a several hours to drain the battery.

My girlfriend always does this on night's when I get too drunk to drive. Luckily, I've learned to look out for it.
