The turbo is weak in my 300D?

I have driven a number of different turbo diesels. My 82 300D Turbo feels sluggish, kind of like a non-turbo diesel. I have to floor it to get it going. Can anybody feel me in on some tips to speed up this turbo. Any manipulations I can do under hood? Any help would be much appreciated.

Try cleaning out your banjo bolt. A search of this forum will get you headed in the right direction.

That's pretty much how they are off the line. Do a search on alda mods, and banjo bolt cleaning, and shift manually when needed.

Does the car make ANY black smoke out the back when floored? I had one once that I could have sworn the turbo was bad. It turned out to be one of the rubber hoses that activate the boost control switch to the alda. It is so cheap that it would be my first place to look. Same symptom as a boostless turbo.
