oil cooler
I just found out the oil cooler on the side of my radiator is for engine oil and it has a thermostat. Mine never seems to get warm. Could there be a problem with it? Where is the thermostat? The car runs at a very consistient temp, is the thermostat important?

The thermostat is in the oil filter housing and if I recall, opens at 95C oil temp. As someone recently found out, it takes quite a bit of highway driving to have the oil cooler come into play.

same discovery here.
makes sence. before i changed the lines to the oil cooler i notaced that there was an abnormal amount of leakage... i mean sometime there was a small dot of oil on the ground and some times there was a pool the size of a basket ball. i changed the lines and the spots went away. but then i notaced that the oil cooler never really got hot. i never really understood it. but looking back the times i've felt my oil cooler was on days when i was running around town. and the times i've seen the big pools were normaly at my dads house after 2 hours of driving in the mountians.
