flex disc, center driveshaft support bearing..

What a pain in the ass! I had the vibration ONLY between 15-25 mph. I ordered flex discs, center support and bearing and rear tranny mount. I dropped the heat shield and took out the bolts on the flex discs. Well, the front one had only one bolt on and tightened. Another bolt had a nut on it but it was only finger tight and the other bolt was totally gone. These are the bolts that have the hex heads.
I separated the driveshaft and got the rear portion out. (can't get the bearing off) The front is kind of stuck. Should the front rubber piece (large rubber dampner connected to the front flex disc) come off easily so I can slide the front portion out easily?

My flex disk took a bit of prying with a big screwdriver to come loose from the transmission.

I second that. Heavy prying!!!!! Has a tendency to ruin a marginal disc....

you need a big jaw puller for the bearing. when i did it i had to remove the connecting arms and bolt the jaws strait to the puller body.

But did you guys have the big rubber dampner at the tranny end?

I am just going to drop off the shaft at a shop and have them remove and replace the bearing. Once the bearing is on the shaft can I just slide the rubber support over the bearing?

To get my center bearing off, used a wood dowel, gently hammered on one side of the bearing then the other. Slowly working it off. They to reinstall I did the same thing. Worked great.

I actually broke a screwdriver trying to get it off. I'm just going to take it to a local driveshaft place.

I'm sure you already did this, but be sure and mark the two halves of the drive shaft.

As the halves started to separate I yelled a dirty word and caught them. I think I am close. I marked them before I pulled the end out of the little rubber boot.

What about the front fubber piece? A CA only piece? Since the tranny is different.
Once the bearing is on the shaft the support mount will slide over the bearing?

The mount will slide right on, but I needed a bit of lube to get it to slide the whole way.
When reassembling, make sure the mount is bolted on straight. If its slighly cocked, it'll give a pesky vibration.

Knock any rust/imperfections off the shaft with a bit of emory cloth/fine sandpaper first, and it should slide right on. Again, lube is your friend!

The center bearing came right off when I did it. Mark the drive shaft before you pull it apart of course.

The flex discs can be a pita, I had to use a huge flat blade screw driver to get them to part.

The plus side is after I changed all that stuff, it cured the 45mph vibration that was annoying me.
