Question Seat adjustment

I know this may not be the best place to ask this...But...I know you have a front and back seat adjustment, but what does the other handle do??? I pulled on mine on both seats and nothing moved that I could tell...

Its supposed to be a height adjusment but I've never noticed a difference on my cars either. Maybe we're not doing it right?

You essentially have two seat slides, one angles down as you move back. Move the seat forward with the front handle, pull the rear handle and the seat will go backwards downhill increasing headroom. The opposite also works to raise the seat.

It definitely should move up/down (at an angle) and back forward. If it does not, your rollers are locked up and you need to either try and get some bearing grease in there or remove the seat to get at the grease holes easier. I pulled my seats as there was dust and dirt built up over the last 24 years and I wanted a full vacuum done. In the meantime I regreased and got everything operating smoothly. That said, I did need to use a hammer to get the slides moving to slosh the grease around. A few back and forths on the slides and it was good as new.

The pull handle at the front of the seat enables the seat to move backwards and forwards. The handle on the side of the seat is a height adjustment. Pulling it and moving the seat backwards will cause it to slide down and vice versa. Pulling it and moving the seat forward would cause the seat to slide upwards. But beware. I discovered the hard way that wear and tear on the seat adjustment mechanism can - over time - result in the seat simply jumping the teeth in the mechanism and sliding all the way to the rear while you are driving. I was barely able to hang on to the steering wheel. Most disconcerting. On this seat the handle on the side for height adjustment didn't work either. I junked the seat and picked up another perfect one from a bone yard for 100 bucks shortly after that incident. It had a central armrest which the original one didnt so I scored double there too.

My up down adjustment did not work....and just a couple of days ago I turned the seat upside down to look at it...
The handle is connected to a sheet metal rod which goes to a hole about center of the seat... the end of that sheet metal can bend... taking away your leverage...
I used a pair of channel lock plyers to bend that tip back towards its holding frame... and greased all channels and rollers in both movement channels... and all works great now...

No. You should be able to use it when sitting in the seat. I just raised mine a little tonight. Had to up real hard on the handle and really use a lot of strength to shift it forward.
