Coolant Leak Help Please
I have a coolant leak at the front of the engine. I see coolant drops hanging from the bottom of the alternator, trans coolant line and lower oil pan (on the pass. side of the engine).
I recently changed the thermostat. Using inspection mirror, I don't see any coolant coming from the water pump or thermostat housing. I can see what appears to be some coolant coming from the front of the engine directly below the front main seal area. I'm assuming its running down the front of the block and pan until the rad. fan blows it over to the passanger side of the engine. Is that right? Would the fan blow the coolant to that side? Any suggestions on where or how to look for the problem? I have some tissue under the water pump and directly below the main shaft to confirm the above. I'm loosing 4-6 oz of coolant per week - on the garage floor... |
The leak that's most common in the area that you've noted is the water pump. Leaks past the pump seal might not be immediately obvious as to the source.

A heater hose is above the alternator, did you tighten that clamp?

Heater hose
I'm a little suspicious of that hose - the lower clamp is almost buried in gunge; is this a small length of a standard size hose or is it a "phil" part?
I didn't touch it during recent repairs and I don't see moisture forming around it using the inspection mirror but probably worth replacing - along with the water pump. |
I think thats a hose you would want to get from Phil.

yeah that avatar hose also!!:D
