replace 220d engine with a 300d

Can You Replace 220d 4cyl With A 300d 5 Cyl Engine

1973 220d 2.2 L Automatic, 4 Dr Sedan.i Have Purchased The 1973 It Is In Running Shape But Also Got A Parts Car 1976 300d Cyl,i Was Wondering What If Anything Will Fit For Spare Parts For The 1973 Which Has 54,000 An Not Bad Shape Body Wise.

The engine from your 76 300D should fit. You will need to use the drive shaft from the 300D too.

you need also to change the speedo, and rear end and radiator to do the job right.

It will fit, the driveshaft will need to be shortened.

Please document the conversion

I am still looking for a 300D flywheel for mine

actually on the 115 the driveshaft is the same length on the four and five cylinder engines as the back of the engine is in the same location.
