OM602 Shutoff valve

Anyone ever do one of these?

I just have the manifold off, and I'm trying to gain acess to the second bolt that holds it down (torx bolts, of all things)

maybe i'll take some pictures

I noticed a VERY large gunk (carbon?) build up on the valves (looking through the air intake, with the manifold off)

Is there anything I can do about it?

To replace the shutoff valve O-ring on my 606 i had to remove the intake, but from there it was pretty straightforward to remove the two Torx bolts, did it with a flexible extension from Osh.
Not sure if it's similar in the w124 602.

Funnily enough while doing the same job i also noticed a little black crud on the intake valves, certainly looks like something the head needs to be taken off for. Probably a result of that darn EGR.
BTW, stuff some rags down those intake holes! One of the plastic injection pipe retainers broke off and fell in, lucky that cylinder's intake valves were closed. Still took @ 20 minutes to get it out.

I was VERY careful when I borke the alda adjustment cover off when the intake was off.

no rags, although I should.
