Its alive but have an issue
 

Got the 190D's vacuum hoses figured out, bled the injectors and ran her today. I have an issue with the injector on number four. The engine skips and when i crack the number four injector at the head a large amount of fuel comes out but makes no difference to the skipping. If I crack any of the others the engine falters with much less fuel coming out. I'm thinking it has a clogged injector on #4. Any other tests specific to a Mercedes 2.2 that I should be doing or am I on track. Also, are these injectors rebuildable? Otherwise the engine seems to be where it needs to be.

1 head gasket
2 new timing chain
3 All new seals
4 Thorough flush and refill of all fluids :book:

Yes, that sounds like a bad injector.

The injector tip can be replaced. But it should be done in a shop that can test the opening pressure.

Just to be sure, you may want to swap two of the injectors. See if the problem moves.

I agree I should have told Duby to do that.

If the miss moves with the bad injector then its the injector that is bad. If the miss doesn't move when the injectors are switched, there is something wrong internally to the engine. Probably low compression that is caused by a valve with not enough clearance. If not valves, could be stuck rings.

OK, I swapped injectors and the skipping remained on number four. The odd thing is when I tightened the line to the number four Delivery valve riser on the IP, the skipping stopped and the engine ran like a top. The minute I removed the wrench the skipping returned. Closer inspection showed me the delivery valve was loose. It was locked down but loose. I removed the delivery valve and found the O-ring was missing and a large amount of Teflon tape was wrapped around the threads (gotta love home remedies). I cleaned the tape out of the valve, removed the 2 injectors I had swapped onto that circuit, disassembled and cleaned those. Everything was full of little pieces of gooey tape. I'm going to clean everything out and install the delivery valves with new O-rings tomorrow. Anything I need to know besides keeping everything numbered to go back to the same place I removed them?

spacific torqueing sequence
 

you have to torque those delivery valves in a certain sequence. torque to 30lbs then backoff torque again to 30 lbs backoff again then to 35 lbs torque. thats it. you might want new crush washers also they are only 99 cents or so.

spline type delivery tube
 

just making sure your delivery tubes are the spline type . Otherwise there is a different torque setting.

They are the spline type.
