W-123 and lift locations
Weather here in Virginia is anything BUT conducive to working outside on cars right now, and I've no garage...
Mounted a Curt Class I hitch on my '85 300TD, but have not yet installed the additional support brackets which run from the ends of the hitch and are bolted through the frame rails. Need to drill the holes in the frame rails and then insert the captured nuts which are welded to a piece of flat steel. Local Army base has an auto hobby shop, but all of their lifts are of the variety with arms/pads that are placed under the car, not a drive-on lift. Where is the best place to locate the lift pads so that I can raise the car with no damage (or am I better off finding another facility that has a drive-on lift)? Thanks, Dave |

If you have a chance to look at the Factory Shop Manual they have directions and warnings for this procedure..
The location of the jacking holes with respect to the lifting pads is a pain in the neck... There are interesting special tools for these situations.... with pics in the FSM...

I wonder if anyone here has ever used these jack-up shoes (123 589 11 63 00)?
