Diesel Power Magazine wants to hear from us
In the last issue, they requested we MB D owners write in with stories/descriptions/pics of our cars.
Some of you guys have impressive upgrades, I'd love to see your cars in the magazine. write to david.kennedy@primedia.com |
May as well try. I tried sending my car into "Euro Tuner" just to see if I could get in the reader's rides section, but no dice.

This is an article about me published in our local MBCA publication. I submitted it to that email address.
My love for old Mercedes started when I was 9 years old when my father bought a 1980 Mercedes 450SL as a third car to tinker with. I tore into that car the first day we had it with little knowledge of the technical areas of cars. Over the next 6 years I acquired a vast knowledge of those technical skills. In the summer of 2004, when I was 15 years old, it was time to say good bye to the SL and I moved on and bought my own 1983 Mercedes 300D turbo diesel. I bought the diesel from Texas, and she is completely rust free with her beautiful factory original paint. After just 236k miles, 212k when I bought it, getting broken in. I am now a 17 year old high school senior and have applied everything I learned from the SL to the 300D. After 2 years with the 300, I have spent countless hours inspection, replacing, or refurbishing every system. People are amazed when I tell them how many miles I am on her, they usually guess around 60k. I plan to have the 300 with me when I move on to college life, hopefully majoring in an engineering field. Owning my own Mercedes has encouraged me to participate in the Mercedes Benz Club of America and currently am serving as the International Stars Section vice-president and local publication editor. I sent him a message as well.

I wish they would do more diesel cars. I can only read through so many articles about Dodge/GM/Ford air filter, exhaust, and ECM chip installs/reviews before it starts to get kinda old.
|
I read the magazine today. They said they if they hear from more Diesel MB owners they will include articles about them. If you would be interested in seeing some Mercedes in the magazine let them know!

There is also a letter in the Q&A section about a doctor that wants more from his SDL.

he maybe they finally listened to me!!!!:)
I send a few months back a flaming email to the editor of that magazines. They put an article about the most significant diesel engines of history... of course the top ten was a collection of powerstrokes, duramax, cumming and giants marines engines... Nowhere to be found the 615, 616 and 617 familly that were the absolute best sellers diesel engines of all times as well as the first production turbo diesels!!!! |
