Ok, i've bought the fluid and now i want to change it, what's the best way to pour the fluid into the diff without spilling it all over the floor guys?

The pump is the only way to go. It will look like you can pour it in but you can't. What a mess it will be , get the pump.

Make sure you open the top hole first and then the bottom...you would hate to have no fluid in the diff and then cannot get the top hole open for the refill...

The mobil 1 synthetic gear oil comes in a tall pointed bottle with a little tip on it, works perfect for putting it right into the diff. Yet another reason to use Mobil 1 You just squeeze the bottle and it all squirts right in there, I didn't spill a single drop when I did it, and it was with no pump at all. So far I have changed it twice on both cars. Differential's are way quieter and smoother now. Huge difference!

Hot tip....!!!

I use Rotella HD gear oil, comes in the same type bottle as Mobil 1, and many others...

However, I use pump up bug sprayers....buy them on sale during winter at various places like Home Depot, Lowes, WalleyWorld......modify/cut off end of sprayer stalk (attach some clear plastic tubing).....fill with your favorite fluid....pump it up, and squirt it wherever it needs to go......My Ford F-150 uses ATF in it's transmission, and is a PTA to fill, but the bug sprayer makes the job a snap.....have one with 85W140....tractor and power wagon have at least 8 sumps between them....learned this trick while working on outboard motors....

Hope that this helps a tad...

I like that, good idea...Your "bug sprayer" will pump the heavier stuff for the rear end?

I use "Red Line MTF" and would like something better than those cheezie plastic pumps. Thanks for the idea

The pointed bottle like the Mobil one bottle up above worked for me. I didn't have to use anything else. It poured right in.

Ditto here, if it gets too low to pour from one just open another bottle and use it and then when you have 2 partial bottles left pour them together to fill back up or for next time.

And some use ATF in manual transmissions. I'm guessing it's to help the synchros.

That Ford has this here third pedal, you kinda mash it onto the floor before you move the gear thingy.....the one with the 12345-R on it....that R is for Race I think.....if'n you don't mash that other pedal to the floor, she don't start, and makes all kinds of racket when you move the gear thingy.....

That there Ford has a genuine Mitsubishi transmission in it...maybe that's why them Japs lost the war.....too many pedals to 'member which is which...

Seriously, I apologize for not specifying that my 5 speed manual transmission takes ATF.....and just another odd note....used to have an ol' '76 Iron Head Sportster (Harley)....had a heck of a time trying to get that bike to shift decently....until a fella who races them told me to try "Type F" ATF.....worked like a charm (I had already rebuilt the transmission, and renewed all shifter bushings)......"Type F" dosen't attack the Harley Davidson seals.....

Bug Sprayer works quite well with gear oil.....just keep it in the house in the wintertime....or it will work really, really, really slowly.....
