what is the going rate for a wagon

I am looking at buying a 82 wagon with 300k on the clock....what is the going rate for it...southern car with no rust underneath. local mb shop has been taking care of it for the last 15-20 years.

I paid $2200 for my 82 wagon with 260k.

I paid $2000 for my 84 with 180K. Of course, I haven't actually been able to DRIVE it yet!

Check completed auctions on ebay. I'm betting the $$ is above $3500

$2,400 for an '83 with 343k: (sold)
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-benz-cars-sale/166509-sale-1983-300td-wagon.html
Two-tank wvo set-up, new parts, and said to be reliable enough to drive anywhere. Pics look great but they are not very detailed.
I never thought something like this would pop up in my area. Last year I flew to Ct. for a 300d, and now instead of having $2,400 I have a rusty project that isn't as nice as the investment grows close to $2,400.

True, but I wouldn't pay ebay prices.
That is getting into the rather high mileage realm also...... factor $ accordingly.

I paid $3500 for my 85 300TD with 135k. However, that was about 5 yrs ago and prices have gone up since then. (at least on Ebay).

I paid $2000.00 for my 85 300TD with ~164,000 miles three years ago. The AC didn't work and the ignition key switch needed to be replaced. Its almost to 190,000 miles now.

$3K for mine. 215k on the clock. Engine was clearly well maintained. Needed to be cleaned up (vacuumed, floormats replaced), and paint was and still is a bit oxidized on the most sun exposed parts. I've since replace alternator, fixed clock, speedometer, AC purge and converted to Freeze12, blower motor replaced, blower regulator replaced.

Still have to do a few window seals and may do a transmission overhaul in near future. Overall, looking at the prices I figured it was a good deal and it made it no problem from DC to New Orleans at 80mph. I think on ebay it might have fetched more in its now more or less fixed state.

Theres one for sale here in houston for 1800. it has 300,000 on it, but the owner swears its in great shape. he said it was 8 exterior with a 9 interior, and the engine/trannie was strong as ever. I was considering it but didnt know how hard it would be to do a conversion on it, so i bought an 80 300d for 1500. A steal around here, because the houston used car market is over priced. Its hard to find a decent deal. Ive seen some rust buckets that a squirrel in a wheel could move it faster, for around 3-4k. delusional.

$2600 for mine back in march. 268k on the clock 8.5 inside, 9 out. but i've replaced a lot since.

wagon prices

Hi guys 'n' gals
I just paid €1300, which I think is around $1650 for a 240td (that's a wagon ) from 84 with 365,000 kms... it has four new Continental typres and only needs a few minor issues sorted (gauges and vacuum of course) but p/o had just spent almost €1000 on a front end rebuild and it is in used but unmarked rust-free (for Europe) condition. I think I got a (very) good price...
It sounds like some US prices are kinda high...

I paid $1250 for my '84 300td about a month ago. It has 313K on the clock, is about a "6" for both the exterior and interior, has good tires, runs extremely well, has the third seat, and has various non-functional items (locks, rear wiper, rear defroster).

vstech 11-16-2006 09:03 AM

while my 79 did not run, when I bought it, it was relatively rust free. minor rust spots near trim etc. odo not functioning stopped around 170K, BLUE in and out, engine clean up, has gotten it running/starting everytime. it kinda smokes and it uses oil at about 1qt/600miles...
$? 500

My mother's 83 also did not run, but it has the third row seat. dash kinda missing... rust free, kinda musty inside, water on the floorboards for who knows how long. $? 1000.00
John
