Chirping Noise? - 84 300D 242k

What are the signs/symptoms to be aware of if engine mount may need to be replaced?

Not really sure what it is but when I accellerate from 0 to about 25 and when I slow down from about 25 to 0, I here this "chirping" noise the speed of which is proportional to the speed of car - faster as I go fast, slower as I go slow... Best description is "chirping" but can also be described as "bubbling" or I was thinking, fan hitting shroud...?? propeller shaft rubbing on something?? not loud...

Recent work, New Exhaust from manifold to rear, replaced air cleaner bracket and new support studs with heat shields...

Sound seems to be coming from right side of engine compartment...

Sounds like a vibration issue related to the recent work you had done. Did you do the work yourself? Exhaust systems can sometimes need a little tweaking to get rid of a rattle. Take a close look and see if yo can see anything rubbing.

HI there,
Try this... pull on the throttle inside the hood to rev the engine. Listen for the chirp.

Then... hold the air cleaner housing with your hand (put downward pressure on it to keep it from wiggling) and rev it again. See if the chirping stops. Mine chirps a little once in a while and it's the air box.

Could be it since you messed with the air box. It's a noisy rattly chirpy thing at times. But better than going without it

I'd rather have a little chirp than rocks baning around in my valves.
