OM 606 Fuel Line O-Ring Spec - Anyone Know The Size/Type?

My fuel lines are less the 2 years old but since i have just developed a leak at the delivery valves I will be pulling the intake manifold off to replace them and thought it would make sense to at least explore the possibility of replacing the o-rings on the plastic fuel lines while I am in there.

The lines themselves are probably OK since, as I said they were replaced early in 2005 but I would like the extra confidence of knowing the o-rings are renewed.

Here's my question - does anyone know the size/spec for those rings? MB only sells the lines with the fittings pre-ringed but I assume the o-rings are just a stock item...anyone got any ideas?

I am pretty sure Phil now has them. See http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/quote.jsp?clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&cookieid=1V4153BEU1Y20RWKHU&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&partner=mercedesshop&year=1999&product=E5030-110928&application=000483552

That info was also listed in a post a month or two ago.

I've got the link to that post at home if you can't find it by searching.

As I have mentioned on this forum in the past I only replaced the o-rings and not the entire plastic lines. I don't remember the dimensions, but what I did was to take samples of the existing o-rings with me to Lowes and Ace Hardware and I was able to find replacements there. The replacements were slightly thicker so it took a lot of effort to reinstall the lines, but I did it and the system is still leak-free to this day (it's probably been about a year).

I wonder if that o-ring will fit. I did order one of these but it looked different than what's on this picture and it was too big. This one on the other hand looks correct.

That is a relatively new part in Phils catalog so am thinking it is correct per it's labeling.

I believe those are correct. The Mercedes part numbers are 601 997 03 45 and 601 997 04 45.

Does anyone know if the rings that are in them when new are round or square in profile? I have an old line here which has o-rings on it, when I pulled one off it is surely not round, but I cannot be sure it wasn't round when it started and got flattened. A standard M8 metric ring will fit and may have been what this one was to start out but it got flattened out over time and adapted to the square channel it fits into.

From ncof300d:
Hey,
Here are the o-rings sizes....

Snap-on Hose seals
O-ring
13mm OD
8mm ID
2.5mm thick

Shut-off Valve seal
O-ring
17mm OD
12mm ID
2.5mm thick

Your shut-off o-ring is the one that I had go bad about a year ago. The odd thing is that it did not cause it to run abnormal at any point....it was just hard to start after setting. You can purchase the o-rings from McMaster-Carr in Viton. Pricey, but they will last much, much longer. If you order today before 3pm you could have them by Mondady-Tuesday.
I am so glad that you found the problem. Wish I was with you to help share the frustration.....I know what it is like with these W210's

Confirmed. They are originally round. Using my old delivery valve o-rings as an example, they were perfectly cylindrical in their deformation, top/botton/i.d./o.d.

Thanks DJ, the 8mm is indeed the standard M8 o-ring which is 8mm ID with 2.5mm thickness (X2) so it has a 13mm OD and I have a ton of them. I'll probably just use my standard black buna ones since I have them "in stock" so to speak even though the Viton ones last longer.

Thanks to everyone for their help...my dealer has the delivery valve seals in stock along with the intake manifold gasket so it looks like I am set to tear into this over the weekend.
