turbo issues???

just replaced fuel filters and all is well on the road to recovery...i hear a whistling sound upon acceleration now that someone told me was a sign of a bad turbo bearing??

803.00 for a rebuilt turbo

what do i do??

That is also the sign of

the turbo spooling up. Take off the intake ducts and check the freeplay (lateral and radial) at the compressor wheel nut. No play = good.

MAke sure the engine is turned off when you test the turbo. It spins even when the engine is at idle. The fins make really good slicers when in motion.

You probably just have a leak somewhere in the exhaust system... normally you shouldn't hear it spool up (which is probably what the noise is). Does it not have power? Is it burning oil?

not MB related, but my friend has a Garrett 60 trim on his car.



I can hear him coming down the road. Has a really cool "wshhhhh" sound.

his has a muffler and a resonator...
