what is this?

it looks like a control valve for the heater system as it has two coolant hoses and a pair of wires that plug into it. quite a complex looking thing as most mercedes parts are. its located just behind the r.h. headlamp. my wires have been cut off and i don't know what purpose this serves, and what am i not seeing with these wires cut ? ? ? i could take a pix of it for clairity. help !

Are you sure it's not the receiver/dryer?

Because the engine water pump does most of the work.

It was included on the US cars because people wined about poor heat while at idle. Once you get moving you get plenty of flow from the engine driven water pump.

what triggers the thing to come on ? or is it on when the blower comes on ? i should probably see if the dang thing works. the car came from alabama so they probably didn't ever use it and thought it would keep the car cooler without it workng. (the antifreeze was only good to 10 abave too)

Test it direct to the battery first..
They may have cut the wires when it failed, and cooked the CCU.
