Other Seafoam Applications?

Seafoam can says it can be used in oil and tranny...

Anyone ever added some of this stuff to the oil or the trans fluid? Or shall I be the guinea pig?

Without a local Purge distributor, I've come to accept Seafoam as a legit substitute for it. It did seam to help with the injectors.

I used it in the transmission on my 2001 Dodge 1500. It was having a typical problem for that transmission. It pulsed in and out of overdrive on hills. Junk builds up on the screen for the OD solenoids. Seafoam greatly improved it within 50 miles. After 500 miles I no longer have the issue at all.

I've used it to fill my spin on filter when changing. You get huge clouds of black smoke when you do that and take it on 0-60 runs. More that just an Italian Tuneup would give you.

I was just recommed seafoam for cleaning injectors. I don't take first recommendations and always try to be as sure as I can that its the right choice. Diesel Mech. that work here says Lucas product is really good too. I know the top end engine cleaner from seafoam is AWESOME for Chevy trucks (gasoline) to remove carbon from intakes and valves. It smokes like tear gas for a few minutes after startup but probably gave me back about 20hp. I'm going to try both Lucas and seafoam to try and avoid pulling my injectors.

you might want to go ahead and pull your injectors at least one of them, and inspect the prechambers. I pulled all my injectors, cleaned out the seats and replaced the heat shields, and this alone made my car start, and run fantastic...

Seafoam sucks compared to DP. I have run seafoam thru and then dp 3 mos later and the dp did a much better job of cleaning things.

winmutt, I had the opposite results. In the past, Purge made little difference, Seafoam did. Maybe mine had "regional" problems!

Jim,

Do you change the fluid afterwards. Or do you leave it there until the next scheduled trans fluid change?

Here's where I was getting DP, but at $5.20/can, not the 6/$25 price.

http://store.interautopartssd.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=10

(I checked to see if there was something saying I shouldn't post a link to non-parts or services vendors, but if there is, would someone let me know?)

dp

I ran dp through after I got my 300sd. The engine started to purr at idle. It was nice, but it didn't last long. I went ahead and put some seafoam in there a few days later (couldn't find dp locally) and it quited the engine nicely.

I put it in at about 52,000 miles. I am at 56,000 miles not (I don't put many miles on it anymore.) At 60,000 I am going to changes the fluid, as per the schedule.

Dp

What is it? Have used Seafoam, a can in the tank, didn't notice a difference, yet have purged with Lubro Moly, formerly Liqui Moly, recently. Highly recomended. I use **************.com.
