OK, DON'T put 195/75/R14 on your benz!!
I tried it and nearly killed myself in the first curve I came across. I don't understand how those american cars can drive on them. the car wanted to just break out like crazy.
anyway, I'm back to 70's. |

thats funny that you did it anyways.
it is not so much the size as quality of the tire. |

The SD runs 215-70-14's with larger sidewalls than the 195-75-14's so, I'm inclined to believe that the size of the tire is not the issue.
The SD doesn't handle all that great due to the big sidewalls, but, it's not horrible either. |

Yes, I can't believe the change from 70 series to 75 series would be very dramatic, provided the tire has the required capability in terms of sidewall stiffness........generally ties to speed ratings.

I put 32 pounds in them. they're BFGoodrich's.
the car just felt like it wanted to go all over the place when steering a little at 70 MPH. I was scared it would break out. With my cheap brand 70's this car had real good handling! by the way, the front still has 70's, maybe that's the difference with byrdandcompany? |

...........what's the speed rating of them? |

Traction TA's suck over steel grates. They seem to like to ride lines in the road too... Don't like em much.

it's probably because I have 195/70/R14 in the front? |

If they have a speed rating, the tire will read: 195-75-HR14 or 195-70-SR14.
The "H" or the "S" is a speed rating. With no speed rating, you basically purchased a very inexpensive tire with a weak sidewall. It won't perform well on these vehicles under any demanding conditions. In most cases, the dealer won't even sell you such a tire for that vehicle. |

I just realized that I said I had 195 75r 14s.... I have 205 75r 14s firestones..... I had one of those moments. Went to pick up a parts car today and I am tired.
I haven't had any trouble with them at all. The tire fits the fenderwell much better and after I put in new sway bar links it drives great.
