Partial Lock Function

Last night after work I had to go to Wally World to get some Thanksgiving stuff. When I came out and unlocked the car, nothing happened. Doors and trunk would not unlock. I checked all the connections under the hood, and all was well there. I had to manually unlock the left rear door to load the stuff, since the trunk would not release. The fuel door locks and releases fine, though.

As I drove home, I left the driver's side unlocked, then I look over to the passenger side, and it had unlocked. When I got gome, I tested the locks and they locked just fine, but then would not unlock again. When the dorrs are closed, and the drivers side is locked, the locks will lock just fine, and you cannot pull them up manually. However when the drivers side is unlocked, I now have to unlock the door manually, and I can manually lock and unlock the doors. The trunk still has not released, but it did release when the locks came up by them selves.

It sound like the master valve in the drivers door has gone south. What do you guys think?

Sounds like a small vacuum leak that lets you do one cycle after the engine shuts down.

It does this with the engine running also. There are no problems with shutting off the engine.

I would suspect a leak. and since the trunk has not unlocked, I would start there.

I'm thinking it's the master valve, as when all the locks funtion, everything unlocks, including the trunk. I can't even use the key to unlock it, because I do not have the square headed key.

When I pulled up the master lock really hard, then all the loks opened. In my infinite wisdom, I wanted to see if they all would lock. They did, and now they will not unlock. I should have just left well enough alone and left it unlocked. Oh well nothing in the trunk needed except spare tire and jack...

None of the locks, except for the fuel door are locking and unlocking with the master.

All locks will pull down when the master is locked, but you have to manually unlock the rest of the doors.

Also, when I test the vacuum keeper, it holds vacuum. The locking curcuit does not. I know it's on the locks some where....

Ok, I found the master lock valves to be good. The vacuum loss points to the passenger side. The locking circuit hold vacuum fine, the unlocking circuit does not. Now I get to pull the passenger side carpet panels to for more testing. I still cannot open the trunk. I can't lock or unlock the glove compartment either, so I know I need a new master key.

I'm going to the MB dealer today to pick up the #63 nozzle and a new master key.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
