their is a site that sells them.. im gold and silver... i dont have the link.. i had it.. but if you live in a troubled area i would invest 50$ into one.. my star cost 25$ from the dealer and i go to school in a bad area and no one has yet to touch it.. maybe its the swatstika someone scratched into my peeling clear coat.. or the amunition boxes i have in my back seat... but its still there..

I have a silver one on my silver '87 300D. I wouldn't let any Gold bling stuff on my car. I bought it after there were some vandals stealing stars in the area. My wife's car '83 300D had a $2200 insurance settlement after some idiot jumped up on the hood while trying to break off the star, which they finally managed to do. It happened at night while she was at a restaurant. I used to remove it for a while after that incident but finally started leaving it on all the time.

I read a JD Powers survey in which they determined that the typical buyer of gold badging was a retired plumber who wanted everyone to know that he had made it. In their words: "the older, less sophisticated buyer".

I've seen many gold-badged Lexus and Cadillac products' drivers, I'm inclined to agree.

Mercedes badging should be chrome, black, body-colored, or removed.

Leaving the removable star on the car at least limits the damage. When it comes out so easily, the punks might just be less likely to vandalize anything else. And of course, jumping on the hood won't be necessary.

No, anyone who puts a gold star or gold trim on a MB should have it repossessed! Gold belongs on a Lexus.
