not sure when they changed, whether near the end of 124's or after they were in 210's but but it went from having no rear fog for US models to having them now.

as far as jags and volvos and such driving with the rear fogs on in normal weather...

I think the W123 sedans and coupes have the left rear fog light, but the US wagon does not. Only the Euro wagon has it. Look at the light switch. When the rear fog is illuminated, there is a little light in the middle of the switch that lights up to show you that you have the rear fog light on. It only comes on when you pull the knob out two clicks when it is in the low beam position. Boostnbenz has done a DIY on how to reroute the leads in the fuse box so the fogs will come on in any position except off.

I know that in '87 the 201 and 124 US models had no rear fog installed, and in '91 they did. What year they changed it I'm not sure.

so that's what the li'l orange dot on the light switch indicates.....

been wondering about that as well....thought it may have been burned out....checked for rear fogs yesterday....was too bright out to tell.....assuming that the tail light is just supposed to be brighter.....

My '85 300D does not have a rear fog light.....I checked the car, and I looked in my W123 Maintenance Library......Rear Fog light is not on any of the electrical schematics,..... however the terminal for it, on the light switch, is identified.....so apparently USA models did not have a rear fog lamp in 1985.....
