How about this one?
Found an 87 300TD wagon with 197K miles around here. He's the third owner. It's engine is good, has a new transmission, and moderate rust around the jacking points. It needs (apparently) a new differential. The guy wants $750 for it. I can probably get a new differential from the junkyard, right? Should I go for it?

Worst case car is likely worth twice that in parts if you are will to part one out.

$750 is a deal, but only you can decide if it's something you want to take on.

How hard will it be to replace the differential? What are the symptoms of a bad one? I assume the car goes nowhere, or has trouble moving, etc.
