Any colors you dont like your older mercedes

Ive seen quit a few 77 to 85 300d s,most are brown ,yellow ,or black. The color that was most striking was silver with a blk interior.I have seen a green 81 240 d with the knock off hubcaps the same color ,and that ,also ,was not to bad.Is their a color you would just not buy?

Since I own a silver w/black int 300SD, most colors don't measure up
Personally, I don't like any of the "manila envelope" varieties of beige they offered, but that's JMHO!

I had an '80 240D that was chocolate brown with the ever popular Palomino interior. Too much brown. I bought it for the economy. I was able to get all the jet fuel I wanted at work. I now have a coupe-hence signature- signal red exterior, black MBtex perfect interior. Bought it at its original dealer up in Penn. When I first it, that's all it took. I was also looking at a silver sedan with a dark blue int. on Ebay. I'm definitely done with Palomino. Paul.

I'm not big on black for any car except a W100.

I like 123s in henna red or whatever that un-Ferrari subdued red is called. My grandmother had a pea green 123 so I like that color for the sentiment. A really good friend and neighbor had a thousand island dressing 123. Looks like the color palomino interiors fade to. Certainly not my first choice. I've seen Euro 123s in highlighter yellow with a tinge of green that takes a lot of getting used to.

I love my silver on black 300CD. That said, the beige nastiness that my wagon currently is is definitly getting changed. I'm thinking a dark dark green...

if the interior is blue, keep it in the garage! or you will loose the dash!

My parts car (that I am trying to get rid of...;) ) is silver with a black interior. It is odd to have a manufacturer that made so few black interiors, but MB was sure one of them. Too bad, I really like it!
I love all of the obscure greens, the metallic orange-ish; really any odd color that most manufacturers don't usually make. And light colors preferably.
I will never own another black, and will steer clear of any dark color. Too hard to keep clean......

I love my thistle green. :)

I am not a big fan of the chocolate brown... Not that I find it offensive, it's just not me. But to answer the original question, no stock MB color would prevent me from buying a good running structuraly sound MB.

a friend of mine used to have a tobacco brown 82 300D I used to borrow from time to time (long before I had any of mine). What a great car it was, total beater, so much rust (that blended in!), started it with a screwdriver, drivers seat supported by a 2x4 to keep it from sinking through the floor, 310,000 miles and was still faster than most I've seen.

Sadly it was donated, I'll miss it :(

Oh, and I must say, I never thought I liked Palomino Tex interiors until I ran across a Cabernet 1980 240D (that might not have been the name for the paint, but it was *exactly* that color) with a minty interior and matching hubcaps on steel wheels.

That would have made a fine stablemate for the 300SD but I found both the same week and the SD was $1000 cheaper. I do wonder what happened to that one?

I just bought a '76 300D in Caledonia Green. Not thrilled with the color but it sorta grows on ya. If anybody ever hits me, I'm gonna take them to court. I dare them to stand up in front of a jury and say "I didn't see the car coming"
family was razzing me pretty good about the color. They came up with all sorts of rude names for the car. Youngest son finally came up with "Shreck" and boy does it fit. He will be driving soon and the gray '83 300D that he will be driving is getting iffy. I asked him if he could stand driving Shreck instead. He replied he has no pride/self esteem at school anyway so it would not be a problem.

I don't like Silver (on any car really) or that Yellowish color. The silver just doesn't have any thick luster in it, and usually the clear coat is chipping away for wahtever reason. My favorites on a 123 is white. Forest green is nice too. On a W126 the best colors are navy blue and black.

I'd kill for a black 560SEC (NOT WITH A 617, the proper M117 thank you very much *ahem*) with tan interior.

pleiades 11-28-2006 07:49 AM

I too have a Red ext./Black int. coupe, definitely one of the best combinations. Unfortunately the black is leather and not tex and is fading, and the paint is faded in places as well.
