I should have known better: I just sold my '79 240D INCLUDING the triangle. I believe '79 and earlier all have them, later US-models (maybe '80 or '81 and up) don't. In Germany it's required by law to carry a warning triangle in your car and MB still puts them in.

My father's Euro 300D came stock with the triangle in the trunk, a flare up by the hood release, and a fire extinguisher mounted to the bottom part of the driver's seat. I believe this was standard equipment on all of them as it was law to have all of the above in your car at all times. Boy those Germans think of everything...the Boy Scouts have nothing on the Germans.
